If sailing is your passion then certainly go for it. But if you're going there for money and luxuries life then brother you r going to commit suicide, now days rules and regulations are strict forget about watching world, you want to be touching earth for month and money.  I have here lot of experience the salaries has reducing and expanse have increased tremendously, everything is expensive you want able to be rich you are going to be middle class boy only. (bcoz of that here too many agent who doing cheating with new coming candidate open cdc person bcoz of that they don't have proper knowledge about this field. They make easily fool by basters agent,  and they didn't gave him plasment and their hard earned money also gone. New coming candidate open cdc or other they have been mentally harassment by family and other people. They again want to do stand-up their carrier but lake of knowledge and previous fraud fear they can't bounce back. So their dream of merchant navy only become dream they can't change into reality bcoz of that money problems.) 

So what ever you will earn also giving paying your course and exam fees on mate level. 

So all this is not worth spending your precious time away from your family. 

Have your ever thought about studies that you have to-do to reach captain / chief engineer, level. Dear seafarers you will be giving exam and doing coursework at least  up-to 8 years of initial life in merchant navy that amount of studies if you do for two years after your 12th exam you can easily  become ias  officer or minimum you  will get govt. Job for good salary 

We will tell you some basic point of merchant navy today 

1. Money (salary)  very less as compared to what you sacrifice, 10 yrs age our salary used to 10 time salaries of land shore job guys. 

We kind of enjoyed going to sea,. As made property our salary are not even double of land job guys it's equal and we cant buy any property and other liability as it's expensive now days and salary is silly in merchant navy before then old days. 

2. Studies  A lot we say may be  throughout your life specially first 8 yrs studies you will spend your vacation giving exam and paying( fee high fees) . So first 8yrs u wont make good money to see expanse like watch keeping spent,  again placement, cop, again place ment, coc exam expanse then where you can save money salaries is silly on rating rank like 300$ to 700$

3. Life on ship you won't attend college bro you will work old guys and risk of life at Mercy of God (storm,  pirates  fire etc,.) and round clock work and emergencies on board and responsibilities and liability even one mistake may land you in jail just on oil pollution can make your life hell. 

4. Social life almost 0 your kids will grow with visiting father.  These are all common problem that every seafarers face and  in future it's going to worsen due to flooding of officer and recession in market. 

Old days were great that is why some guys win say you that merchant navy is awesome but present time and situations and future is in black hole. Although on land future bright if only you are doing hard working
